Raging Swan Press: 2013 Schedule

Over the last week or so I’ve been putting a lot of thought into Raging Swan’s release schedule for the early part of next year. To date, 2012 has been terrifically successful for Raging Swan Press and I want to build on that success in 2013. Not only have sales increased dramatically, but I’ve learnt a hell of a lot about writing, publishing and the gaming industry. I’ve also started working with more and more terrific freelancers. Sadly, though, It’s got to the point where I don’t have enough writing gigs to keep all my freelancers happy.

In 2012, Raging Swan moved to a model of releasing a short 10 – 20 page PDF every week, instead of releasing a smaller number of larger PDFs every month. For 2013, I’m going to try and be even more ambitious!

So, I’ve posted a tentative release schedule to Raging Swan’s website that covers January to April. You can take a look at it here. As you’ll note I’m planning to release (in most weeks) two PDFs a week. This year, we will have released over 60 new supplements (six of which are available in print). If I keep up my new release schedule, Raging Swan Press will release around 80 PDF supplements in 2013! (I have no idea at the moment how many of them will make it into print). That’s a crazy number.

As I say, this release schedule is tentative at the moment and is subject to change, but as I learn more about the publishing business, get better at planning my release schedule (and the work preparing that many products for sale ) and build up a stable of good, dependable freelancers I don’t see why this isn’t achievable.

So take a look at the release schedule and see what you think. You’ll note that the overwhelming majority of the supplements are GM-focused; that’s mainly because I’m a GM and I like publishing stuff. That said, I’m probably missing a trick or two. If you’ve got any suggestions as to what Raging Swan Press should be publishing drop me a line with your suggestion, and who knows – you could end up writing it!
